A rare Portuguese faïence bottle or flask, 2nd half 17th century, of double gourd form, painted to one side with the head and shoulders profile portrait of a figure smoking a pipe, the reverse with a stag, flanked by flowering branches in shades of blue, green, yellow and manganese, some chipping to the rim, 16cm.
