A CORONATION SCENE, PAHARI, PROBABLY KANGRA, EARLY 19TH CENTURY gouache with gold on paper, depicting a group of crowned rulers and noblemen, some identified in devanagari script, being briefed by a soldier, while women watch from balconies and horseman and princely figures in tents gather outside, ten lines of devanagari script on the reverse, 35.5 x 50.5cm (inside border) Provenance: Private Collection, London, acquired at unidentified auction house in London, 24 April 1980, lot 18 The scene appears to be the coronation of King Bhishmak (in white coat), with his son, Rukman, at his side (wearing green coat).
