A pair of Chinese export porcelain oval armorial plates, early 19th century, each centred with the coat of arms of the Honourable East India Company, the rims with geometric leaf-and-tongue detail, 27cm wide (2) The present examples bear decorative similarities to known pieces said to have been commissioned for the East India Company's president at Madras, one of which can be found in the V&A, No 335J-1898.
