PROVENANCE: From the estate of Harold & Mousser, of York, Pennsylvania, an entrepeneurs, private collections, acquired pre-1970's from Fluhrer's Galleries, York, PA. Dimensions: Height: 11-7/8" Diameter: 6-1/4" Stand: Height: 1" Width: 4-3/8" Chinese Qing Dynasty period Qianlong Emperor Reign period, double gourd vase. Potted in a shape of double gourd resemblance, with two bulbous belly conjoined together, suspending a tall cylindrical neck, bulbous lower section converging into a lemon-shape midsection and finishing into a slender bottleneck at the top, gently rounded to narrow opening. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in Famille rose and gilt overglaze over clean pale peacock green underglaze base color which contrast against gold glaze. The exterior adorned with painting of vivid tones flowers blooms in red, rose ,and white color. The flowers called three friend in the winter, interspersed with fresh green foliage around the double ground vase. The base is Olive-green color underglaze with mottled coloration due to the firing process, combine pale yellow-gold glaze color created fascinating eyes. The immaculate porcelain body covered with a characteristic silky glaze. Underglaze olive-green are stable with subtle shades. The Lines of the drawings are clear; the light and dark shades are subtle. Scattered minor glaze anomalies. The clay is fine and exquisite, the glaze smooth, brilliant with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous. The vase displayed upon a carved hardwood stand.
