Dimensions: 13-1/2" H Finest, Chinese Qing Dynasty gilt bronze buddha stupa house cast in a hemispherical structure, ornate cylindrical bronze Buddha temple houses, with opening in the front, surrounded by cast skirts, beneath a monk headdress-shaped roof top. The shape of the stupa represents the Buddha, the crown is the top of the spire; the head is the square at the spire's base; the body is the vase shape; the legs are the four steps of the lower terrace; and the base is his throne. Although not described in any Tibetan text on stupa symbolism, the stupa may represent the five purified elements:The square base represents earthThe hemispherical dome/vase represents waterThe conical spire represents fireThe upper lotus parasol and the crescent moon represents airThe sun and the dissolving point represents the element of spaceGeometric tessellations that line the circumference. Buddha sits within the temple entrance assuming a meditative posture. Very fine craftsmanship can be seen throughout this one of a kind antique.Underside with incised quatrefoil flori-form petal visvavajra mark surrounding the centralized DaiJi. See More
