PROVENANCE: From the estate of Harold & Mousser, of York, Pennsylvania, an entrepeneurs, private collections, acquired pre-1970's from Fluhrer's Galleries, York, PA. Dimensions: Height: 7-1/2" Diameter: 4-3/8" Chinese Qing Dynasty Yongzheng Emperor Reign period blue and white porcelain amphora vase. Potted with a bulbous lower body, gently tapper the faceted shoulder, with two archaic ears flanked on the neck, elevated the tall cylindrical neck, raised upon a slightly tall splayed foot base. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white Bajixiang underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine color. The main body delicately big lotus blooms interspersed with scrolling interlocking fresh foliage and various flower blooms. Banded on both side shoulder and foot rim with upturning phoenix tail. The neck decorated with wavy cresting Lishui water, on closed with banded on both side with repeating key fret pattern. And archaic flower motif on the upper mouth rim enclosed with double fine blue rings. Archaic pattern and scrolling ruyi clouds decorated on the shoulder, key fret pattern decorated on the lower shoulder rim, banded with double fine blue rings lines. scrolling ruyi clouds decorated on the foot base rim. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the underglaze cobalt blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy and shading to the design. The glaze stopping before the foot rim, revealed the pale-creme ground, with orange and grayish firing marks. There is not any overlap of the outlines, its well carved, clear, subtle, and distinct. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.
