Dimensions: Length:18-1/4" Width: 4-1/4" A Fine Qing Dynasty Cloisonne ruyi scepter, with inlaid celadon jade inserts. Ruyi can mean “may your wish be granted.” Gilt Lotus flower head, with incised jade, inserts located at the head, midsection, and butt. Longevity symbols line the stalk on an interlocking swastika background pattern. A cloud and rolling thunder pattern are detailed around all the edges. Overall the scepter is in gorgeous condition with minimal marring of the surface. Cloisonne is enameled metal on which the colors of the design are separated by thin metallic strings. The cells are filled with crushed enamel after which the object is heated until the enamels liquify into the cells. The whole piece is then sanded and polished into a uniform surface. The jade inserts are finely hewn and have smooth texture. Jadestone is translucent with a milk-white appearance. Mark on underside, four gilt script characters enclosed within square border, Made in The Years of Qianlong Reign Period. See More
