Dimensions: 8-7/8" H x 8-1/2" W Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, QianLong moon vase. The porcelain potted in moon vase, thick and large, with bulbous lower region, square moon belly, sweeping up into a slender neckline and straight mouth rim, emerge two archaic ruyi handles flanked from neck to the shoulder rim, create majestic handles, raised on short rectangle foot base with slight concave footing. The exterior decorated with hand-painting in cobalt blue underglazed, depicted of two snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves in a dark blue color dragon squama to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames and vapors. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the under glaze grayish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. The porcelain displays a subtle sheen as the light ricochets across the finely glazed exterior. Mark on under base, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty. See More
