A large original leaf from a late-medieval Bible originating in Paris(?); on both recto and reverso are 29 lines of text, arranged in two columns, and written in black and red ink; the script, known as lettre-batarde, has been written on animal vellum; fillers and initials throughout are written in red and blue with gold infills, while the larger two- and four-line initials are decorated in pink and blue; these larger initials feature spiralling floral and foliate patterns on hairline stems; page ruling visible. 11.8 grams, 33.5 x 23.5cm (13 1/4 x 9 1/4"). From the property of a London gentleman; formerly in a UK collection, acquired in the 1990s.
