A Chinese white jade brush rest dating from the Ming dynasty. The brush rest features a carving of 2 cranes. Dimensions are: 2 inches tall X 4 1/2 inches wide, 5.1 cm tall X 11.4 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There are 2 small areas of loss to the carving's feathers. Provenance: From Mrs. Fullerton in New Jersey. Her father, Maurice Etangs, was chief of police in Tianjin, China and lived there from 1935 to 1945. These ****s were collected during that time.
