An unique and extraordinary yellow gold Chinese court robe from the Late Tang or Song/Liao Dynasty c. 9th or 10th century (of the period)
The robe is decorated with a double crane motif, done primarily in blues. Restored c. 2000 by the Director of Conservation at the Chinese National Silk Museum in Hangzhou/Zhejiang, (it is the largest silk museum in the world). It took 2 years at a cost of $30,000 USD. The museum does not even have a fragmentary piece of this type and era. Carbon 14 tested.
Dimension: Framed c. 88 3/4" high x 51 3/4" wide. Robe c. 77 1/2" high x 42 1/2" wide.
