Two imposing Roman gold bracelets, eastern Mediterranean area, 2nd – 3rd century A.D. Two excellently preserved, splendid gold bracelets. The bracelet composed of two twisted, parallel bands made of solid gold. A medallion with a translucent carnelian in the centre of each. The smaller, round medallion has a diameter of 2.6 cm; the larger one is oval with a maximum length of 3.9 cm. The smaller one with filigree ornamentation, the larger one with an egg-and-dart frame around the stone. Intact. Maximum length 6.6 cm and 7 cm. Weight 77.5 g and 85.8 g. Extremely charming pieces of Roman jewellery. Made of gold of high purity (more than 96%). Provenance: From the European art trade.
