Provenance: From the collection of Walter Steggles (1908-1997) Hawthorn was an exhibiting member of the East London Group for the whole of their active period from 1929 to 1936 under her maiden name of Lilian Leahy. She married fellow group member Elwin Hawthorne in 1937.
