A carved limestone figure of a leaping beast with forelegs folded, hindlegs and tail bent, head turned; hatched fur detailing to the trunk, legs and mane, exaggerated eyes each with a central socket to accept a bronze(?) stud; supplied with a museum-quality impression. 57 grams, 68mm (2 1/2"). From the private collection of a medical professional; acquired on the European art market in the early 1980s.
