Tang Dynasty, 618-906 AD. A ceramic figure of a camel standing on a rectangular base, moulded saddle bags and cargo detailing with painted spirals to the ships and shoulders. 4.3 kg, 40cm (15 3/4"). From a west country collection in the 1990s; previously in a Hong Kong collection; accompanied by a copy of a thermoluminescence test report issued by Laboratory Kotalla of Germany, report number 16CM110520.
