5th-7th century AD. A rectangular gold bifacial pendant, the obverse with a piriform turquoise cloison to each corner and a discoid one to the centre each in a cell with granulated sidewall, filigree border to the plaque with granule clusters across the field; reverse with similar border framing a band of filigree 8-shaped loops, four domed discs surrounding a rosette with granule detailing, loop with applied granules. 7.02 grams, 33mm (1 1/4"). Property of a North London gentleman; previously in a Mayfair collection.
