A mixed group of cylinder seals, limestone (3), banded agate (1) drilled vertically for suspension; each accompanied by a museum-quality impression and a typed and signed scholarly note issued by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'Seal of fawn and white banded stone. The design shows a human-looking figure standing between two rearing quadrupeds. A crescent in the sky forms a terminal. This is reported to have come from west central Asia, which is very likely. The period is c.800-600 B.C. The seal is in good condition. (R-873)'; 'Seal of white mineral substance. The design shows a seated figure on the right, and facing him two standing figures, the first leading in a quadruped, the second holding up a standard on a tall pole. This comes from some part of the ancient Near East, but it is a rare type perhaps from Northern Mesopotamia or the mountains beyond. The surface of the material is corroded, obscuring the details pf the design. (T-211)'; 'Seal of brown mineral. The design consists of a linear pattern between double rulings above and below. The pattern is not regular, but generally there are two rows of zig-zag lines, one of which has hatching along it on one side. This comes from the period c.1300-1000 B.C., from any area between the eastern Mediterranean and Kurdistan. It is in fine condition. (T-214)'; 'Seal of cream stone. The design consists of a frieze of criss-cross pattern within upper and lower rulings. This is a seal in the Jemdet Nasr style, c.3000 B.C., from Mesopotamia or western Iran.
