31st-30th century BC. A cream jasper cylinder seal, drilled vertically for suspension; accompanied by a museum-quality impression and a typed and signed scholarly note issued by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'The design on the sides, which are concave, is a linear frieze somewhat like a pattern of interlocking leaves. This is a Mesopotamian seal in the Jemdet Nasr style, c. 3000 B.C. It is in good condition, almost very good, and has an unusual and interesting design.' 6.8 grams, 23mm (1"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; item number V-170; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s; and accompanied by a copy of a typed and signed scholarly note by the Professor.
