9th-5th century BC. A cream limestone cylinder seal, drilled vertically for suspension; accompanied by a museum-quality impression and a typed and signed scholarly note issued by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'A standing figure in long robe has both hands extended, and one of them holds up a mace. Below the other is a small stand on a tall leg. The remainder of the space is taken up with divine symbols, the two biggest being the Moon-god's crescent on a triangular base on the right, and Marduk's spade on a triangular base on the left. Between these two are: the winged solar disc, (the sun-god), seven dots, (the Pleiades), a star, (Ishtar), and a rhomb and a fish (deities unknown"). This is a Syrian seal c. 800-500 B.C., save for chipping of the edges in very good condition.' 7.2 grams, 24mm (1"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; item number 913; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s; and accompanied by a copy of a typed and signed scholarly note by the Professor.
