14th-10th century BC. A large yellow clay cylinder seal, drilled vertically for suspension; accompanied by a museum-quality impression and a typed and signed scholarly note issued by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'The design consists of a combination of linear and other motifs put between upper and lower rules. Not much can be identified for certain, but a tree is clear, and perhaps a man--tête-bêche-- standing akimbo. The interpretation of other items is subjective. This is a rare type of seal from Anatolia or Syria, c. 1300-1000 B.C. It is in very good condition.' 24.5 grams, 41mm (1 1/2"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; item number 2901; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s; and accompanied by a copy of a typed and signed scholarly note by the Professor.
