14th-11th century BC. A cylinder seal composed of frit, drilled vertically for suspension; accompanied by a museum-quality impression and a typed and signed scholarly note issued by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'The design, which is put between upper and lower rules, shows a seated figure on the right raising one hand. On the left is a standing figure. Both wear long robes. Between them is an attempted cuneiform inscription, not now legible. A terminal consists of a tree above an unidentified motif. This is a Middle Elamite seal, c. 1300-1100 B.C. It is a rare type of seal, but is now worn and in part recut.' 8.9 grams, 40mm (1 1/2"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; item number 2001; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s; and accompanied by a copy of a typed and signed scholarly note by the Professor.
