15th-12th century BC. A faience cylinder seal, drilled vertically for suspension; accompanied by a museum-quality impression and a typed and signed scholarly note issued by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'On the left of the design is a standing horned animal with head turned backwards. In front of it is a band of four stars and under it a band of guilloche. Behind it is a tall pole surmounted by a star, and to the left of that is a standing human figure in long robes open at the front, from which one leg projects. This is a Mitanni seal, c. 1400-1200 B.C., from any area between the eastern Mediterranean and Kurdistan. It is a very elegant piece of work, and though there is some wear, its quality still shows.' 1.7 grams, 20mm (3/4").
