10th-8th century BC. A brown jasper cylinder seal, drilled vertically for suspension; accompanied by a museum-quality impression and a typed and signed scholarly note issued by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'At each end of the design is a standing figure facing inwards. He wears a long robe with bottom fringe and holds up one hand while gripping a towel or other such object in the other hand. Between the two there is apparently a big offering table, but this is not clear due to damage. This is a Neo-Assyrian seal, c. 900-750 B.C.' 6.2 grams, 31mm (1 1/4"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; item number V-825; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s; and accompanied by a copy of a typed and signed scholarly note by the Professor.
