21st-18th century BC. A black jasper cylinder seal drilled vertically for suspension; accompanied by a museum-quality impression and a typed and signed scholarly note issued by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'The design is put between upper and lower rules. The main figure is human, and raising one hand toward a large 'ball-staff'. This is a seal from Syria or Anatolia, c.2000-1800 B.C. Save for chipping of the edges it is in fine state of preservation, and is a good example of its kind.' 2.78 grams, 25mm (1"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; item number 50-B (65); academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s; and accompanied by a copy of a typed and signed scholarly note by the Professor.
