9th-6th century BC. A faience cylinder seal, drilled vertically for suspension; accompanied by a museum-quality impression and a typed and signed scholarly note issued by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'On the left stands an archer in long robes aiming his bow at a bull that is running away. Nine small circles and one larger one fill vacant spaces. The design is put between upper and lower rules. This is a seal from Mesopotamia, c. 800-600 B.C. It has a nice design, and though there are two spots of damage and some wear, it is generally in good condition.' 8.82 grams, 36mm (1 1/2"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; item number 1602; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s; and accompanied by a copy of a typed and signed scholarly note by the Professor.
