A finely modelled carved red sandstone head representing an important male figure; pillbox headdress featuring scrolled motifs around the side faces and ribbing to the upper face, ears with elongated lobes, lentoid eyes with heavy lids below delicate raised brows, broad nose with wide nostrils and deep philtrum, full lips with deep lines at the corners of the mouth; remains of painted pigmentation; mounted on a custom-made stand. 5.8 kg total, 26cm total including stand (10 1/4").
