7th January 1507-1508 AD. A group of eight large vellum or parchment leaves forming a long scroll of the final concord agreement concerning disputes between Gui IV de Mostuéjouls, the lord of the Castle of Pinet, and the inhabitants of the castle, dated 7 January 1507-1508; written in cursive secretary hand and in medieval Latin; leaves of different colours, sizes and shapes; some have holes and tears, including re-sewn examples; lacking the final leaf and seals. 422 grams total, 53-75cm (21 - 29 1/2"). Ex central London gallery; formerly with Bloomsbury Book Auctions, 1988. Suggested as being probably from the archives of the counts of Mostuejouls, who held estates in the Rouergue region of the Aveyron in southern France from the eleventh century. The castle of Mostuejouls still stands and is on the Tarn river. [No Reserve]
