A silver finger ring with applied scrolls to the shoulders, cell with inset carnelian cloison, intaglio portrait bust of a Greek philosopher with name of the engraver [Nathaniel] Marchant. 9.23 grams, 25.84mm overall, 20.40mm internal diameter (approximate size British S, USA 9, Europe 20, Japan 19) (1"). From the private collection of Edward Lucie-Smith, an English writer, poet, art critic, curator and broadcaster; the collection formed since the 1990s. Nathaniel Marchant (1739–1816) was an English gem engraver and member of the Royal Academy. [No Reserve]
