A collection of thirty smoking pipes of various dates and styles together with a custom-made two-tiered wooden display stand featuring felt-lined dished rests for thirty pipes; the smoking pipes made from various materials, many with a slender wooden stem, meerschaum bowl and metallic spark guard of varying designs, some of which are stamped with maker's and other marks, and hinged lid; the mouthpieces mostly of turned wood or bone, or of base metal with flexible mesh section; bowl length varying between 7cm and 20cm and stem length from 35cm to 72cm; some bowls with figural and foliage designs, some spark guards formed as military helmets; the stand comprising a D-shaped table with four splayed legs and lower shelf supporting an upper platform with felt-lined notches to the outer edge. 22.7 kg total, stand: 130cm wide x 120cm high (51 1/4 x 47 1/4").
