19th-20th century AD. A pair of silver dishes each with basal ring, rounded rim and parcel-gilt ornament comprising: royal hunting scene in low relief with shah or king mounted on a leaping horse thrusting with this spear at an attacking boar leaping over a dead lion, winged figure above with streamer and elephant approaching ridden by a mahout with hooked goad; eagle with wings spread and talons gripping the flank and throat of an ibex, all surrounded by a border with fringed edges and overlapping scale detailing. 1.4 kg total, 19.7cm each (7 3/4"). From the private collection of Edward Lucie-Smith, an English writer, poet, art critic, curator and broadcaster; the collection formed since the 1990s.
