19th century AD. A silver double-heart love token, 'MIZPAH', which is Hebrew for 'watchtower', stamped on one face along with an inscription scratched into the surface which reads 'THE LORD WATCH BETWEEN ME & THEE WHEN WE ARE ABSENT ONE FROM ANOTHER'; reverse with a separate back plate, a small piercing in each chamber along with hallmarks and initials. 2.53 grams, 32mm (1 1/4"). Found while searching with a metal detector in Nethergate parish, Saxlingham, near Norwich, Norfolk, UK; in November 1988; accompanied by an old Norwich Castle Museum envelope with references.
