A Near Eastern terracotta figure of a priest with a holy book, 1st millenium B.C. Rare terracotta figure of a bearded man whose head is covered with a pointed hood and who holds a broad tablet in front of his left breast. Extremely rare depiction presumably of a founder of religion such as the biblical Moses. At the bottom diagonally broken in old times. Height 8.7 cm. Provenance: From a south German collection. Seltene Terrakottafigur eines bärtigen Mannes, dessen Haupt von einer spitzen Kapuze bedeckt ist und der vor der linken Brust eine breite Tafel hält.
