A large Roman bow brooch, 2nd century Equilateral brooch with large, half-round bow. Head and base in form of a stylized animal head. Extreme richly decorated bow with finely cut and engraved decoration, enamel and niello inlays. Two-thirds of the hinge-mounted pin well preserved. Exceptionally large specimen made with highly experienced craftsmanship. Bronze with green precious patina. Length 6.8 cm. Extrem reich dekorierter Bügel mit fein geschnittenem und graviertem Dekor, Emaille und Nielloeinlagen. Die scharniergelagerte Nadel zu zwei Drittel erhalten. Außergewöhnlich großes und hochwertig gearbeitetes Exemplar. Bronze mit grüner Edelpatina. Länge 6,8 cm. Provenienz: US-amerikanische Privatsammlung.
