东马靠近文莱国一带的沉香味道甘凉带甜，与文莱的非常接近，因此也被做为“广义的文莱”出售与加工。而大部分东马的产地，香韵都是凉而略带一点草药味，比较清香。本串佛珠即以东马沉香为材，在沉香佛珠中属于极稀少的品类，值得关注。《大正藏》中收录东晋所译《佛说木槵子经》，其中记载了释迦牟尼为波流离王开示，贯穿木槵子百八颗而成数珠，念三宝名以灭烦恼障报障 的修行方式。
