Dimensions: 7" H x 10-3/8" Dia. PROVENANCE: From Private estate collections of Jullias Phillips (1923 - 2017), Marietta, Georgia. When WWII started, Jullias worked at the Charleston Navy Yard helping build ships to protect our country and the world. They moved to Charleston, one of America oldest city with many historical building and antiques. Start from here, Jullias love to collect porcelains and many other antiques, and many year later they came back to Marietta, Georgia. Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Tianqing Sky Blue glazed ribbed jar. Potted in ribbed shape vessel, globular body, oval body, smaller on the lower body tapered gracefully to heavy waisted neck, with closed opening lip, supported on short small foot base, slight concave. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in masterfully covered in an even coat of a sky blue glaze which terminates at the base to reveal the pure white under glaze. The sky blue glaze creates a mottled effect around the rim which is likened unto the blushing of human skin. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
