Dimensions: 16-5/8" H x 13-1/4" W PROVENANCE: From Private estate collections of David Frederick Boyd, of Marietta, Georgia (1935 - 2018). Served in the United States Army, thereafter, employed by a fortune 500 company and remained there for the rest of his working career. He is admired for Habitat for Humanity activist and a prominent antiques collector, mostly Chinese Antiques and European furniture at his large Victorian house in Georgia. Chinese Qing Dynasty period, Lujun Glazed amphora moon vase. Potted in moon vase, thick and tall, with bulbous lower region, moon belly, sweeping up into a slender neckline and straight mouth rim, emerge two archaic ruyi handles flanked from neck to the shoulder rim, create majestic handles, raised on short rectangle foot base with slight concave footing. All the surface of the glaze has a fluid appearance with a splash of purplish colors melting together to create abstracted effect against a turquoise-green ground under glaze. Smooth surfaces are covered in a mixture of green and blue giving it an artistic feel. Glazed to perfection with each flattened side reflecting light and drawing in the attention of the eye. Big Bagua symbols decorated on the moon belly surrounded the pearl. Bagua symbols represent the constantly changing forces and natural phenomena of the universe as described in the I-China. Each trigram features long (yang) and/or short (yin) lines or a combination to represent the eight compass directions. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese porcelain wares, with finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, and the carving. Without overlap the outlines of the design, well carved, clear, subtle, distinct, and the shape is uniformly proportioned. Mark on base, a six embossed seal script characters reign mark, Made in The Years of QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
