Dimensions: 13-1/4" H x 8-3/4" Dia. Chinese Ming Dynasty period, Blue & white pomegranate meiping jar. The porcelain shaped into a traditional Meiping form, large, thick and tall potted, wide body on shoulder, slender neck easing to form narrow opening, with emerging slight flaring ring mouth rim, raised on round foot base, with slight concave. The exterior decorated with hand-painting in clean white under glazed base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine color, depicted of abundant ripe pomegranate tree with dense foliage. Which foot banded with arrays of tropical leaves patterns, and ruyi shaped large pendants filled by scrolling clouds, interspersed by floral on the shoulder. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
