PROVENANCE: From Private estate collections of Mr. Peter Lyon (1938-2016), After graduation in 1959 he joined the military and was trained as a fighter pilot for the Marine corp. Retiring from the military his next career was as a commercial pilot for Pan American and United Airlines flying 747 aircraft in the pacific and orient. During his layovers he searched for fine porcelains which he proudly added to his private collection. Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, famille rose large bowl. The porcelain potted with a shallow large body, deep and tall, broad cavetto, with flaring opening lip, raised on a small round, with concave footing. The Interior and exterior decorated by applying of wucai design color, a variety of five-colored pigments creates bold opaque hand-painting of snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves in a brown color dragon squama to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames and vapors on the mid interior. On center interior decorated with vigorous flying phoenix enclosed with thrashing waves lishui. And the exterior with flowers blooms , Fu bats and ripe pomegranate fruits. The Lines of the drawings are clear, the light and dark shades are subtle. The colors are harmonious, elegant and exquisite, the composition is sophisticated, simply a feast for the eye. Mark on under base, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within double fine blue rings lines, Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
