提要：此书分卷乾、元、亨、利、贞五卷，书内多为道家修炼、采补及调和龙虎一类的内容。序中称“其书分内外二篇，《内篇》乃玉液、金液之事，《外篇》为裁接培植之功，并集服食、符箓、禁方，名《保生秘要》”。此书刻于金陵，而刊工当是徽州名手，卷中图画为曹氏自绘，线条优美，形神兼备，刻工颇能写神，为明末版画精巧之作。
