By Ryusai, signed Ryusai Japan, Tokyo, Meiji period (1868-1912) Naturalistically carved with its wings drawn in and one claw clenched, perched on a gnarled oak with intricately carved leaves and small branches, the eyes double-inlaid in mother-of-pearl with dark horn pupils. Signed RYUSAI on the base with incised characters. HEIGHT 10 cm Condition: Excellent condition with only few minor traces of wear. Provenance: British collection.
