3rd-7th century AD. A squat pale green glass cup with rounded base and everted rim, seven bands of wheel-cut facets to the outer face. Cf. Whitehouse, D., Sassanian and Post-Sassanian Glass in the Corning Museum of Glass, New York, 2005, item 47, for type.134 grams, 11cm (4 1/4"). From the family collection of a Hampstead gentleman; formerly acquired in the 1980s; this lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate number no. 10449-170651.
