4th-3rd millennium BC. A group of four agate and other cylinder seals of various types; two seals accompanied by a museum-quality impression and a typed and signed scholarly note issued by W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: (1) 'Cylinder Seal of Brown Stone with a Little White 8.5 x 8 mm. The design is a frieze of closely packed chevrons between linear borders. This dates to c.3000 B.C. and comes from Sumer, south-west Iran of the Diyala valley. It is unusually small and in good condition.' (2) 'Cylinder Seal of Brown Stone 12 x 8 mm. The design, which is put between upper and lower rulings, is a frieze of three vertical bands of three fish, of differing size. This dates to c. 3000 B.C. and comes from Sumer, the Diyala Valley of south-west Iran. It is a nice example of its kind and in very good condition.' 5 grams total, 8.5-17mm (1/4 - 3/4"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; item number 3302, V-26, W-484, W-489; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s; accompanied by two original typed and signed scholarly notes by Professor Wilfrid George Lambert.[4]
