A ceramic biconvex tag or seal with central hole for attachment to a cord, impressed cuneiform text to the outer face in eleven columns, maker's thumb-print visible on the plain area of the surface. 22 grams, 37mm (1 1/2"). Ex central London gallery; acquired on the UK art market in 1999; previously in a UK collection formed before 1992; believed to have been examined by the late Professor Wilfrid George Lambert FBA (1926-2011), historian, archaeologist, and specialist in Assyriology and Near Eastern archaeology in the late 1980s and early 1990s; this lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate number no.10323-166481.[No Reserve]
