水盂为铜质，作金蟾形，造型饱满敦厚。金蟾双目圆睁，嘴唇抿起，造型惟妙惟肖，蟾身以凸纹装饰，腹下三足用力蹬地，背上开一圆形口，以承水之用。水盂因小巧而雅致，最能体现文人雅士的审美情趣，在文房中占有举足轻重的作用，相传蟾宫中有桂树，唐以来常以“蟾宫折桂”谓科举应试及第，故而古代文人仕子实用的文房器具常以蟾蜍为题材。此器构思巧妙，惹人喜爱，颇有意趣，观之可亲，文人清趣可见一斑，加之工艺精湛，包浆古雅，实可宝赏之。
