Wang Ge yi (1897-1988), from Haimen City, Jiangsu Province. He used to be a professor at Shanghai Xinhua University of Art, Changming College of Art, and a professor at Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts and head of the Department of Chinese Painting. After the founding of New China, he served as vice president, honorary president of Shanghai Painting Academy, director of China Artists Association, vice chairman of Shanghai Branch of Artists Association and Calligraphers Association, vice president of Xileng Yinshe, and librarian of Shanghai Museum of Literature and History.
