A RUSSIAN PORCELAIN COVERED URN, IMPERIAL PORCELAIN MANUFACTORY, PERIOD OF ALEXANDER II (1855-1881) of baluster form, the handles formed from caryatids, with oak leaf and acorn garlands with a conforming gilt acanthus foot, the cover with a pinecone finial, all against a turquoise ground, marked under base with green overglaze imperial cypher and number 7; overall height: 56 cm (22 in.) PROVENANCE Sotheby's, New York, June 9, 2010, lot 730 Acquired at the above by the present owner CONDITION The vase appears in good original condition. A minor chip to one of the gilt garlands behind one of the caryatids. Overall surface dust and grime, most notably around the caryatids. Rubbing to the finial. Inspection under UV restoration and glue residue around the foot rim above the acanthus leaves. N.B. All lots are sold in as-is condition at the time of sale.
