Schist stoneGandhara , 3rd to 4th centuryDimensions: Height 9 cm by 6 cm Weight: 584,8 grams with baseThis stone of a male Bodhisattva is attached to a wall and shows very elegant features. Schist was used in the earlier period like phyllite and later also stucco. This finely created face shows influence from Hellenistic art, with a small moustache and goat beard, closed eyes and slim chin. A hole between the eyes indicates the presence of former stone inlay. The head is covered by an ornamental cloth or headpiece, the curls can be seen underneath.
