A Victorian brass-inlaid rosewood dressing case with silver fittings Of rectangular outline with brass corners and recessed handles, the hinged top with an armorial plaque inscribed with the Connell bee motif and the motto Non Sibi, opening to a fitted interior with original glass bottled and containers dressed with silver covers by Charles Boyton, 1854, and a manicure set, within dark blue leather and velour recesses, above a pull-out tray and a jewellery drawer, the top with pull-down letter pouch, 32cm wide, 24.5cm deep, 19.5cm high. Condition report: Case exterior: fine split to top centre left. Further very fine split to top lower right.Some fine splitting to the fall front. No key. Case interior: Fair throughout with minor signs of age and use. Satinwood split filled to front interior rail. All containers appear original. One square bottle with chip to shoulder. One cylinder bottle with large chip to base. One small rectangular container with repair to lower corner. Jewellery drawer has some small stains to the satin lining. Manicure set is complete and appears original although scissors may be replacements.
