罗中立，1948年出生，重庆市璧山县人，毕业于四川美术学院，艺术家，教育家，四川美术学院原院长。1984年晋升为副教授，同年赴比利时皇家美术学院研修，1986年3月返校。1993年晋升为教授。现任中国当代艺术院院长，全国人大代表，享受国家政府津贴的专家，中国美术家协会常务理事，中国油画协会副主席，重庆市美术家协会主席、重庆市文联主席。1997年被评为文化部百位“德艺双馨”的艺术家，1998年被评为国家有突出贡献的中青年专家。
