Set of six French late 19th Century oak Oyster poles, Atlantic Coast circa 1880, each pole with lime putty roundels with indentations, raised on later metal stands, the tallest 189cm, (6) The Oyster pole was used by drilling holes into each stick then lime putty would be applied with a small seed oyster, the oyster would then grow in situ on the pole ready to be farmed, the poles would have been attached to overhead ropes and hung into the water.
